IAEMA - MISSION STATEMENT
The reasoning behind the formation of the International Airport Equipment Manufacturers’ Association is very simple. Manufacturers within the GSE industry have increasingly felt that they are the ones who are best placed to further the sector’s growth and opportunities. Part of that growth stems from exhibition exposure.
To that end, a group of manufacturers recently signed an agreement to take joint responsibility for a revolutionary new type of GSE exhibition. Revolutionary, because ramp equipment events have traditionally been arranged by third-party organisations whose prime motive is one of profit.
In view of this, and with the welfare of the many GSE manufacturers uppermost in mind, the new organisation seeks to drastically reduce the costs involved for those choosing to exhibit under the IAEMA banner. The first event took place in Las Vegas in October 2010 and had the backing of the major players within the international GSE sector. Uniquely, the International Airport Expo becomes the only show for the industry, delivered by the industry.
Further, by putting the control back into the hands of the participants, the IAEMA feels confident that the sector will flourish accordingly. On its agenda are plans for more efficient collective bargaining and cost-cutting as well as discussion on universal standards for equipment and manufacturing processes.
